Castle Point utility vehicles hit in a wave of thefts
Tools were ripped from five utility vehicles in a series of robberies at Castle Point.
Essex Police say that in the past week officers have received 7 reports of theft or attempted theft from a motor vehicle in the district.
Of these seven incidents, five involved the theft of tools from utility vehicles.
Incidents include the following: January 13 at Thorp Leas, Canvey – power tools were removed from Ford Transit January 14 at Elsinor Avenue, entrance to Canvey was gained through a side window and tools were stolen from the van partner of Peugeot.
Same day at Ferry Road, Benfleet – locks broken and tools stolen from Ford Transit.
Same day at Rat Lane, Benfleet – locks were cut and tools stolen from a Vauxhall Vivaro.
Also that day at Daws Heath Road, Benfleet – locks broken and tools stolen from Mercedes Sprinter.
A spokesperson for Essex Police – Castle Point District said: “We urge vehicle owners to ensure all valuables are removed and vehicles are fully secured. Our officers are aware of the issue. and conduct patrols.
